SRTA Rules for Organized Tennis

SRTA Approval:

  1. Organized teams, leagues, social events and regularly scheduled clinics must be pre-approved by the tennis committee to ensure no conflicts arise.
  1. All new and returning teams must fill out a Request Form each season and submit it to the League Coordinator and the League Rep for that particular league.
  1. New and returning WTTA, USTA and ATL teams must submit their rosters to the SRTA by:
    • Aug 1 for the fall season
    • Jan 2 for the spring season
    • May 1 for summer USTA
New WTTA teams will also need to submit the WTTA New Team form to the Steiner Ranch WTTA board representative by the above dates.
  1. Returning team criteria:
    1. WTTA: at least 5 returning players from the same team in the previous season
    2. USTA and ATL: at least 60% returning players from the same team in the previous season
  1. Team members must be in good standing with the HOA.
  1. Each non-resident owes $25 per season to play on a Steiner Ranch team or to participate in a social league. This fee must be turned in to the SRTA Leagues Coordinator (checks payable to the SRMA).
  1. Logins for the court reservation system will be distributed after receipt of any non-resident fees and final SRTA approval.

When Team Requests Exceed Available Spots:

  1. For new teams, once the submission deadline has passed, a lottery will be held to determine which new team gets the spot.
  1. If WTTA board placement decisions result in more than the allowed number of Steiner teams on a given day, precedence will be given to the teams with higher skill level, as judged by the WTTA board rep after considering flights played, WTTA records and USTA ratings.

Team and League composition:

  1. By Fall 2010, teams should consist only of Steiner Ranch residents. Until then, teams must consist of at least 75% Steiner Ranch residents.
  1. Once the 100% rule is in effect, if qualified residents cannot be found, teams may petition the SRTA board for an exception for one season.
  1. In order to make room for all players, each resident can only be listed on one USTA weekday team roster (an exception may be granted by the board if a team is unable to complete its roster).
  1. A player may not captain more than one team in a given season.
